In this interview, Clarence W. (Bill) Smith shares his observations of the food processing industry. Topics include: research conducted by the can companies; his sales experiences in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania; changes in cans during the 1920's and 1930's; competition between Continental Can and the other can companies; observations of the effort to promote the canning of asparagus in New York State; the consolidation of canneries; and handling claims against can companies.
